The Silver Lining

The silver lining here is that  this virus comes at the tail end of our 3 months of teething hell and unrelenting slew of respiratory infections.  Right?   Here is a picture of our silver lining.  The silver lining that will be covering Bert's perfect and tender little lips, cheeks, palms, soles of his feet, arms, and legs for only the next 8-12 weeks.  More good news:  Benign, it resolves itself and may only leave moderate scarring.  We can just wait more to have Bert assessed for his speech and physical delays until after he recovers from this. What's a few more months? JFC!

This syndrome, atypical in the US, is called Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome It is actually only the residual effect of a viral infection.  Fascinating.  I am thrilled to have learned something new and so unusual today.  Another  The only actual cool thing is that sweetest angelpie Bert remains perky and content, though not comfortable.  Unconditionally interested in snuggle and play at any given moment, so long as it is with me.

Everything is fine. Just very tired and even more tired of being tired and talking about being tired.

  2. Thanks VL. That festering little bootie in the photo is not our little Bert, but it is the one most closely resembling him. His came on quite fast and may be identical or worse in severity by morning. Perhaps we will get our own photo at bath time. So we can show him when he is older.

  4. you know, the saddest part of the yucky blistery rash is that with him still crawling, having it on his palms hurts him and he keeps pointing at his palms and making the question sound?

ok, my sweet and loyal readers. i am converting the name of the menacing rash to a link so anyone else genuinely interested can click to read. thanks for the idea.

  9. Oh sweet baby J! Ok. So you said that it does not bother your baby? Or at least, there is no discomfort involved. That is indeed the silver lining. Another Silver Lining (free of charge) AND you can use baby to scare away check-writers at the checkout line any time. In this holiday season, I need a way to get people to stay away from me at the mall, etc. May I take your son shopping with me?
(I know we just met. But I am irreverent to the core... I hope you are not offended. In all seriousness, I hope the baby remains in good spirits and that this thing passes ASAP. {{{hugs}}} We just met and all: but I am a hugger AND a comment hog. Sorry)

  16. hey. god, there is frieaking little on gcs online i am going nuts. my five year old daughter was diagnosed tuesday after four different jackass doctors tried to insist it was just eczema she made bad by scratching. Clearly, not. she is tiching so bad and we have tied her getting the syndrome to her flu vaccination. how is your little one doing with it? my daughter has had the rash for 7 weeks already and still pretty crummy. ???

  17. yeah. not much info. so glad to have a pediatrician who has been right on with so many of our issues without delay. bert's palms are the only areas that are truly aggravated by the hateful rash. he is literally covered. even his ears. good luck, please feel free to share any info you uncover on GCS. Take care.
