What is up with leaving the back door open while the heat is on in order to "run" to the garage "because you are coming right back"? It takes almost zero time or energy to freaking close and re-open the door. Right? And, how about leaving the freezer open while you tear into a bag of nuggets "since you will be returning the remainder to the freezer"? Ughxch! So annoying. This thinking is baffling and persistent. I am not 11 anymore. Why must I catch myself, at times, living this way?Very very disappointing behavior. These are the ways of a fool. I need to be clear here, in that I am referring only to my own recurring bad choices in the name of efficiency.
In the midst of divorce, now, more than ever, my children look to me. "They look to me to see how merciful and generous I am in good times. They look to me to see how strong and faithful I am in bad times. They watch, they listen, and they model. Years from now I want my children to remember a childhood lived well, with a mother who was loving, consistent, devoted, funny, disciplined, playful, and totally present and emotionally available."(Kristin Armstrong)
And what about leaving your flies open because you'll probably be having another wee today? Eh? I do that all the time, but generally not deliberately. Sigh

ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this post as I surveyed the destruction that is my kitchen this morning. I cleaned it last night. No effing point. So I way wallow in the filth and run the heat and AC simultaneously.
ReplyDeleteMajor Pet PEEVE! Leaving the back door open in the summer while they run out. Hello?? You're letting bees and bugs and mosquitos in the house!
ReplyDeleteRepeat offender here! Only I didn't even bother with some excuse. LOL. I plead LAZINESS in my self-introduction. ;-)
