So, the little guy began sleeping through the night. Aaaaah. Finally, the part where we can rest our souls. Nope. Big guy (age 3) immediately took up post. Nightly, he becomes crazy agitated screaming and crying and twisting in poltergeist/exorcism fashion at around 1 a.m. This continues for hours. We are unable to know if he is asleep or awake for this. It is both stressful and sad to find ourselves to be of no comfort. The cool thing is he doesn't remember it in the morning.
The other cool (no, really cool) thing about feeling too tired to produce anything near quality: I don't have to. Because JennyPenny made my day when she nailed it in: Dear Block-Buster Parents. Find your quality reading here compliments from The Momplex. Here, she, as always, delicately but shrewdly calls bullshit on lame parenting. I heart you, Jenny. Enjoy.
In the midst of divorce, now, more than ever, my children look to me. "They look to me to see how merciful and generous I am in good times. They look to me to see how strong and faithful I am in bad times. They watch, they listen, and they model. Years from now I want my children to remember a childhood lived well, with a mother who was loving, consistent, devoted, funny, disciplined, playful, and totally present and emotionally available."(Kristin Armstrong)
